Enamel Bonding

Enamel bonding is used to close spaces between teeth, lengthen small or misshapen teeth, or whiten discolored teeth. It is commonly used to fill in a gap between front teeth. First, the teeth are roughened and then a conditioning gel is gently applied to help the bonding material adhere to the teeth. A tooth-colored material called resin is then shaped, smoothed, and bonded to the appropriate teeth. An ultraviolet light is used to harden the bonding material, giving your teeth a natural, full appearance.

Veneers

Veneers are thin pieces of stain-resistant porcelain that are bonded onto the front of teeth. At you first appointment, impressions of you teeth are made and then sent to a dental laboratory, where the veneers are customized to match your natural teeth. At your second appointment, Dr. Chong will then bond the veneers to the appropriate teeth. Reasons for veneers include:

  • Severely discolored teeth
  • Stained teeth
  • Crooked teeth
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Worn, chipped, or broken teeth
  • Cosmetically, to augment the attractiveness of a smile

For discolored, worn, chipped, or broken teeth, veneers provide a natural white glow and lengthen teeth evenly. Many people use them to cosmetically enhance the beauty of their smile.

Porcelain Inlay & Onlay

Very similar to a filling, an inlay lies within the cusp tips of a tooth and is used to fill a cavity. Inlays are optimal for new decay or replacing old fillings. Onlays cover one or more cusps of a tooth and require a more extensive reconstruction. At the first appointment, for both inlays and onlays, the old silver filling or the decay is removed. Then, an impression of the tooth is taken and sent to a dental laboratory, where it is custom made to match the shape and color of the natural tooth. A protective temporary sealant is placed on your tooth and the next appointment is be scheduled. At the second appointment, the inlay or onlay is permanently cemented to your tooth and is undetectable from your surrounding natural teeth.
